Child Support
Child Support
Most clients, depending on their situation, are interested in child support. Whether the client is the mother or father, if child custody is an issue, then child support is also an issue. Our office is knowledgeable and helpful in all matters regarding child support in the state of Utah. We will sit down with our clients and calculate the amount of child support in each case.
The state of Utah guides the legal field in calculating child support. Utah Code 78B chapter 12 Utah Child Support Act states that, “Every child is presumed to need the support of the child’s mother and father. Every mother and father shall support their children.” Child support is calculated based upon the parent’s income, as well as the amount of nights spent with each parent. You can find a child support calculator here: https://orscsc.dhs.utah.gov/orscscapp-hs/orscscweb/actions/Csc0002.
Child Support is calculated using the income of both parents and the nights a child spends at the non-custodial parent’s house. If both parties agree, a different amount can be requested. Child support is a responsibility and duty to each parent. It is a duty that is supported by the Utah Courts.
